    Whananaki New Zealand

Whananaki is a quite coastal community located right on the shores of a beautiful little harbor and can be accessed from Whananaki North Road around forty five minutes north of  Whangarei in the Northland region.

Whananaki is divided into Whananaki North and Whananaki South which is joined by the longest foot bridge in the Southern Hemisphere spanning the bottom end of Whananaki Harbor, the bridge was built in 1947 to allow school children living in Whananaki South to attend school in Whananaki North the bridge spans an impressive 395 meters.

From Whananaki North Road the Northern side of the harbor is accessable by vehicle and the Southern side is accessable by crossing the foot bridge or returning a few kms back down the road and crossing over a steep and winding saddle on the Whananaki South road, this road is not suitable for caravans or motor homes the road is extremly narrow and graveled.
