    Oakura Bay Whangaruru

    Looking for a great place to relax close to the water with fantastic sandy beaches then you will love Oakura Bay, located around forty minutes driving time from Whangarei City in the Northland Region Oakura Bay has it all.

    Oakura Bay is located on the Western shore of the Whangaruru Harbor the area is a popular destination during the Christmas holidays with seaside batches dotted around the coastline the beach is long and easily accessible from the roadside and with white sand is a great place to relax with a picnic.

    The northern end of Oakura Bay has plenty of accommodation with the holiday park located here right on the seaside with a fantastic swimmimg beach and there is a great coastline to explore with a rocky headland accessable only at low tide you can explore this rocky outcrop and there is great fishing off the end of the point.

    For kayakers there is the Whangaruru Harbor entrance to explore with Puriri Bay, Admirals Bay, Kauri Bay and Papahuia Bay all within easy reach on the northern side of the harbor, the last two bays are only accessible with a boat or a long walk from the end of Whangaruru North road on the other side of the harbor.

    To the south of Oakura Bay on the southern side of the rocky headland there is a beautiful secluded beach, this beach is accesable from Rapata Road with a short walk through some bush you are greated to a stunning pebble beach which is part of Mokau Bay.

    Oakura Bay is a popular destination for many reasons there is beach launching for small trailer boats located at the northern end of the beach, the area around the peninsula at the Whangaruru Harbor is popular for fishing, there is a fantastic coastline to explore by walking or by kayak or you can sit down and relax by the seaside and take in the fantastic views.
