Tongariro National Park

The Tongariro National Park Is New Zealand's oldest park and located on the Central Plateau in the Central North Island of New Zealand, the park covers some 786 square kms and is one of the remotest and least populated areas of New Zealand.

The Tongariro National Park includes three active volcanoes Mount Ruapehu, Mount Ngauruhoe and Mount Tongariro, Mount Ruapehu is a popular skiing destination in the winter months, the park also includes two of the most challenging walks the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and the Tongariro Northern Circuit both these walks are extremely popular during the warm summer months.

Rotorua Geothermal Wonderland

Rotorua is located in the Bay Of Plenty Region of New Zealand's North Island and is an active geothermal field, the city of Rotorua is located next to lake Rotorua where the cities name originated, the geothermal attractions include the famous Pohutu Geyser located at Whakarewarewa and the surrounding hot mud pools, the Rotorua area has some seventeen lakes which are popular for Trout Fishing and water sports.

The Rotorua district is also a Mountain Bike mecca there are several managed Mountain Bike Parks located in the region with some of the best single track riding areas in the North Island, the World Mountain Bike Championships are held here regularly during the season, the area provides some stunning walks through native bush along rivers and around the many lakes in the area.

Aucklands Playground The Hauraki Gulf

Auckland is a stunning city which is located and surrounded by the Hauraki Gulf and is a popular destination for international travelers, the Hauraki Gulf cover some 4000 square kms and is popular for water sports, fishing and sight seeing, the gulf has many islands that can be accessed by daily ferries and allow day trips around the most popular islands of Rangitoto, Great Barrier and Little Barrier Island.

Waitomo Caves Underground Wonderland

The Waitomo Caves are located in North Islands Waikato Region and 12 Kilometers Northwest of Te Kuiti, the caves are limestone that have been eroded by water causing sink holes, tourism in this area started as early as the 1900s and are a fantastic journey through an underground cave system lined with stalagmites and Glow Worms which the Caves are famous for, there is also a fantastic walk along the Waitomo Walkway which follows the Waitomo Stream there are some stunning rock formations to view along the walk way.

The Whanganui River Journey

The Whanganui River Journey is a fantastic multi day journey down the Whanganui River by kayack or canoe, the river is located within the Whanganui National Park and is managed by the Department of Conservation, the Whanganui River is one of the longest in New Zealand with a length of two hundred and ninety kilometers.

This fantastic water journey is through stunning rocky canyons with thick native bush lining the river banks and is just about as remote as you can get, the multi day trip is all about exploring this great river and includes the Bridge To Nowhere which was built post war to provide returning service men with free land in the region but was later abandoned the bridge is in the middle of the forrest with no roads only foot access from the river.

Lake Taupo Adventure Playground

Lake Taupo is located on the Central Plateau North Island New Zealand, and is the remains of a super volcano that erupted some 27,000 years ago the peak of the volcano forms an island in the centre of the lake, Lake Taupo is renowned as a world class trout fishery and attracts anglers from all around the world to try and catch the elusive Rainbow Trout, the lake is also the start of the Waikato River and includes the famous Huka Falls located at he Northern end of the lake.

The Stunning Coromandel Peninsula

The Coromandel Peninsula is located in the Waikato Region southeast of Auckland City, this area offers some of the most stunning secluded beaches and coves in the North Island, well known for Cathedral Cove and Hotwater Beach there is more to this peninsula, the best way to explore this area is by self drive vehicle you can drive up the western side then cross over and drive down the Eastern side of the peninsula, accommodation is limited to camping at the northern end and the coastline is covered by the New Zealand Pohutukawa tree with stunning red flowers in the summer time.
